While spring is just around the corner, we likely haven’t seen the last of extreme winter weather here in the Twin Cities. And, it’s never to early to prepare for next year! It is crucial that the commercial snow removal you hire is reputable and dependable.

Start with a company that is a member of the Snow and Ice Management Association. Advanced Irrigation is a member of the Snow and Ice Management Association, which is a non-profit trade organization for snow and ice industry professionals. Is your commercial snow removal company a member? It promotes professionalism among its members, it gives its members networking and educational opportunities and it provides leadership for those in the snow and ice removal industry. While it’s not a requirement that commercial snow removal companies be a part of this organization, it is always a good sign that the company is interested in the educational and professional opportunities that SIMA provides.

You should also be asking any of the commercial snow removal companies you’re interested in hiring what specific snow removal services they offer. Is it just one guy with a shovel and some rock salt? Or do they send a team of workers with a plow, shovels and a few different kinds of de-icer? And how soon after a snowfall do they come to your business to clear the snow and ice? Also, ask about fees charged. Is it a flat fee or do they charge per hour?

Benefits of Owning a Sprinkler System in Edina MN

Sprinkler systems can benefit any Edina resident. Sprinklers can keep your lawn looking beautiful all summer long. They are perfect for frequent travelers or anyone who does not have the time to keep up with a rigorous lawn care schedule. We at Advanced Irrigation know that summer is a time to kick back and relax.

Keep Your Lawn Happy & Health
Sprinklers keep your lawn looking beautiful throughout the entire growing season. They will continue to work even if you work a job all day or leave for an extended vacation. Sprinklers will not forget to water your Edina lawn. They hydrate your lawn and garden evenly and routinely. Your lawn will be happy, healthy and the envy of the neighborhood.

Conserve Water
Sprinklers will help you save water. A sprinkler system is programmed to come on and shut off at predetermined times of the day. Sprinklers dispense a precise amount of water when needed. If you are watering your lawn yourself, even the time it takes you to turn the hose on and off wastes water. Sprinklers are also targeted to specific areas in your yard, so only what needs watered is getting attention.

Types of Sprinklers
There are two types of sprinkler systems. There are above-ground and underground sprinklers. You have to choose which type best fits your needs and lifestyle. Both will keep your lawn looking lush and green. Whichever option you choose, you should have a professional install it for you. Then you know it's done right the first time.

When you're ready to get that beautiful lawn you've always dreamed of for your Edina property, call us at 612-559-8675 or fill out our Form for a Free Estimate.

Installing A Lawn Sprinkler System Requires Serious Planning

Lawn sprinkler systems are great labor savers for Minneapolis home owners once they are installed, but the actual installation involves more labor than the average person realizes, and a lot of planning.

There are guides available at your local home improvement stores to help design an adequate system. But, if you have more than a simple rectangular yard with a few shrubs, they may not help you develop a system that provides the proper coverage to all areas. To design a good Minneapolis lawn sprinkler system, you'll need to consider the different watering requirements of various plants and shrubs.

After you determine the static and flowing water pressures and the available flow rate, you’ll decide on whether spray-type or rotary-type sprinkler heads are best. Either may be used in some applications, but only one or the other will do the job in a different situation. Rotary heads can reach farther, but require a higher water pressure; spray heads don’t reach as far, but can work with lower pressures.

When you’ve determined the number, type and placement of sprinkler heads for proper coverage, you can divide your system into zones, each zone being sized to not exceed the available water flow. You will need to calculate the pipe sizes needed to allow for the pressure drop through each section of your lawn sprinkler system.

The sales clerk at your home improvement store may be able to help you with some of these calculations, but since you are making an investment that should serve you for many years to come, you might be better off seeking the advice of a qualified sprinkler system installer.

Once you have your system, you will find that it will free up much of your time, while it helps maintain a beautiful lawn and garden. For more information on this subject, you can read the article, “What You Should Know Before Installing ALawn Sprinkler System.”
